Find a cheap flight to
Cape Town South Africa

See my Traveller's Guide to Cape Town Airport

Cheap flight
A lot of people go out searching for 'bucket shop' rates. The reality is that passenger airlines have to cover their costs and still attempt to make a profit. When several airlines are covering the same route, they compete with each other but you may find that on particular routes the cost of their flight tickets will not differ significantly.

At the bottom of this page is a script you can use to compare airline ticket costs.

The travel shops are simply agents for the airlines. Their role is to fill seats. To get a really 'cheap flight' you would need to do a bit of research.

Unless you're actually prepared to travel rough in a cargo aircraft, your flight will be on a particular date on a passenger airline servicing that specific route. This means that the cost of your airfare is dependant on factors such as season, seat availability and advance booking.

However, from time to time, airlines do offer promotions in the form of cheap tickets on particular routes and it is possible to get a cheap flight to South Africa that way. These deals are often aimed at students, or travellers under a specified age.

First step.. Decide when you want to go and for how long..

The cost of your flight ticket to Cape Town South Africa will depend to some extent on the season in which you intend to travel. The winter season May-October is a good time for Cape Town travel if you want to take advantage of a reduced ticket rate, and if you are intending to travel to South Africa during that time, you should find it easier to arrange a Cape Town cheap flight.

The Spring/Summer season in Cape Town South Africa runs officially from November to April. The weather is a lot warmer - and sometimes really hot during those months, but the ever present 'Cape Doctor' wind keeps the temperature bearable.

The northern areas of the country experience summer rainfall and dry cold winters. A large number of tourists prefer this time of year to arrange a cheap flight to travel to South Africa for game viewing or a safari vacation.

Cape Town weather in the winter season is generally wet - but there are some beautiful clear days to enjoy, and there's still lots to see and do for those wanting cheap flight tickets.

Remember, you are likely to pay more for 'open' tickets which are more flexible. Generally, the longer you stay the more you pay. And you must have a return flight ticket before you're allowed to enter South Africa.
